Thali Thali Game Lodge is a beautiful game and fynbos reserve located on the R27 just one and a half hours drive from Cape Town. They offer accommodation, game drives, archery, fynbos walks and their restaurant is legendary.

In the beginning of 2015 I was lucky enough to spend the night in one of their chalets and go on one of their game drives and I have wanted to go back ever since.

My recent trip to Cape Town was pretty special as my brother and his family was also in town, it was the first time in about 2 years that we were all in the same area code and I wanted to do something amazing. I booked a huge table at their Sunday Buffet for the whole family. I have been hearing about their Sunday Buffet for a couple of years and I was really looking forward to it.

Thali Thali Game Lodge is incredibly family friendly and have a wonderful playing area outside their restaurant which kept all the kids busy for hours – and it was incredibly difficult to get them to leave!

The Sunday Buffet

Every Sunday, without fail, Thali Thali Game Lodge hosts a Sunday Buffet. They offer traditional, delicious dishes and you better come hungry because they are not shy on the amount of food and dishes on offer. You will want to try everything.

I must say, their Vetkoek was heavenly and the sweet potato was by far the best that I have every had. Also on offer was Spicy Butternut Soup, Chicken al La King, Venison Lasagna, Mini Eisbein, Seasonal Vegetables, Sweet Potato and Rice. The dessert was Chocolate Pudding with Cream. Their menu changes every Sunday, so be sure to check their Facebook page every week for their menu.

The Accommodation

They offer Luxury B&B Tents, which are perfect for a romantic getaway, Self-Catering Chalets (which we stayed in in 2015) and their big, beautiful farm house. The Farm House is ideal for the extended family.

The Game Drive

Thali Thali Game Lodge offer game drives every day and are approximately 90 minutes long. When we went on the game drive we saw Springbok, Oryx, Giraffe, Bontebok, a Camel, Zebra, Owls, and so much more.
