Die Sandveldhuisie in Citrusdal

By far the quirkiest place I have visited in 2016 is Die Sandveldhuisie in Citrusdal. Find the beautiful town of Citrusdal at the foot of the Piekenierskloof and the majestic Cederberg peaks. Citrusdal is one of the largest citrus growing areas in South Africa.

Die Sandveldhuisie

The historical Sandveldhuisie is now a local coffee shop and houses the local community art and craft initiative. Browse the quirky products, which make for perfect gifts for those back home. It was also such a delight photographing this quirky shop, every available surface, wall, table and pot plant was decorated with trinkets and art.

Citrusdal Museum

Visit the Citrusdal museum, which mainly focuses on the history of the town, the first pioneers and the local Khoisan, and is housed in a charming stone building that was once this tiny hamlet’s original church. The little museum displays the way of life of a bygone era.Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie Die Sandveldhuisie
