I spent the day yesterday at the 101st Darling Wildflower Show in one of my favourite towns: Darling! The Darling Wildflower Society has been around for more than a century and the Society’s Darling Wildflower Show takes place annually over the third weekend in September. It celebrates an integral part of the Cape Fynbos Kingdom comprised of Renosterveld, Rietveld, Sandveld, and Strandveld where more than 1200 different species of owers can be found.
The Flower Show offers a variety of activities to entertain young and old. Your ticket includes entry to:
- the Landscaped Hall depicting the owers of the area in their natural habitat,
- a Craft & Gourmet Food Market,
- a Veteran Tractor/Car Display
- an Entertainment Tent featuring live music from famous local acts
- safe and secure parking for vehicles
The BEST part of the show was the Tractor Ride through the Renosterveld. I cannot describe how beautiful the wildflowers are. The variety, the colours, the soft floral scent. It was incredible!

Well Hello Darling
Shadow Minister, James Vos, was there to officially launch the NEW Hello Darling Tourism Identity. Gil Ferreira, Chairperson of Darling Tourism says” The new identity reflects the dynamic nature that Darling needs to continue promoting Darling as a proudly South African tourism offering and is illustrative of Darling’s uniquely quirky and colourful personality”. You can read more about it on the West Coast Way website! I am just in love with their new logo.
