I didn’t fly much before I moved to Johannesburg almost 5 years ago. Since then we have flown approximately 3 – 4 times a year, which can add up and put a major dent in ones pocket, believe me, especially when you have kids. So I am always on the lookout for Cheap Flights. I regularly go onto the Travelstart website to check flights, because you never know when you might get a great deal – although sometimes I just go on there to daydream and plan future adventures in my head.
All of my flights have been from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back again (yes, no international travel for me just yet, still saving those Rands). Did you know that the Johannesburg to Cape Town flight route is one of the busiest in the world? According to News24, it was listed at number 10 with 4.4 million passengers in 2012! I had no idea, but since flying back and forth for almost 5 years, I can believe it! Almost every single flight has been fully booked.
My tips for flying one of the busiest routes? Book a mid-week flight, book a couple of weeks in advance for the best rate and fly from Lanseria (this is a personal favourite of mine). I do prefer Lanseria because it’s quieter and it is slightly closer to where I live.
And always choose the window seat, so that you can get beautiful views like this:
