The worst thing about living in another city far away from family is that you miss out on birthdays and celebrations. I missed my moms birthday at the end of May, and I made sure I made it up to her when I visited this passed July. I decided to do something amazing and booked a table for us at legendary High Tea at the the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel.
I have been to the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel twice before, both times for weddings, and I always wanted to come back to just stroll through the gardens.
High Tea
The High Tea was amazing and is a true Capetonian institution. Just walking into the hotel made us feel like superstars and we chose a table out on the terrace where it was nice and warm.
You start off with a selection of savoury bites, then you move on to the most delicious scones I have ever had, which were served hot out of the oven. Next you move on to the sweet table. They serve a wide selection of cakes, tarts and sweet little bites. During all the eating you may select two types of teas, which you choose from their tea menu. The signature Mount Nelson Tea has been expertly blended from six teas: Darjeeling, Kenya, Assam, Keemun, Yunnan, Ceylon, and rose petals from their garden. In addition, they offer an array of leaf and flowering teas.
We could not move after all the deliciousness and I insisted we go for a walk around the gardens to walk off some of the calories.
