The Golden Gate Highlands National Park lies nestled in the rolling foothills of the Maluti Mountains of the north eastern Free State. During our stay at Twin Towers at Fairview Estate, we spent a couple of hours driving through the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.
It was overcast, misty and a little bit rainy on the day we visited, which made it feel a bit more magical – it felt almost other-worldly actually.
There are a few loops that you can drive which will take you to some jaw-dropping viewing points. Just standing there in awe of those giant mountains in the quiet mist with my boys made me feel quite happy and content. It was the perfect way to wrap up an emotionally draining year.
If you are in the area then please do yourself a favour and visit the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. You can book accommodation in the park and find out more information on other activities that can be done there.
