I didn’t fly much before I moved to Johannesburg almost 5 years ago. Since then we have flown approximately 3 – 4 times a year, which can add up and put a major dent in ones pocket, believe me, especially when you have kids. So I am always on the lookout for Cheap Flights. I regularly go onto the Travelstart website to check flights, because you never know when you might get a great deal – although sometimes I just go on there to daydream and plan future adventures in my head.
All of my flights have been from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back again (yes, no international travel for me just yet, still saving those Rands). Did you know that the Johannesburg to Cape Town flight route is one of the busiest in the world? According to News24, it was listed at number 10 with 4.4 million passengers in 2012! I had no idea, but since flying back and forth for almost 5 years, I can believe it! Almost every single flight has been fully booked.
My tips for flying one of the busiest routes? Book a mid-week flight, book a couple of weeks in advance for the best rate and fly from Lanseria (this is a personal favourite of mine). I do prefer Lanseria because it’s quieter and it is slightly closer to where I live.
And always choose the window seat, so that you can get beautiful views like this:
Hip Hip Hooray It’s Travelstarts Birthday!
From the 28th of August until the 1st of September Travelstart will be celebrating their 11th Birthday! Now, a little birdie told me that they are lining up cheap flights, gifts and they are running a competition! You can get surprise travel deals in your inbox by signing up to their special birthday newsletter, it’s as easy as that. Also, follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to enter their competition and to wish them a Happy Birthday!
Travelstart has been around for 11 years offering great deals on flights, car rental, accommodation, and packages. I always check them out for accommodation deals and to see if I can score cheap flights.
