Groot Constantia

Groot Constantia turned 330 years old this year and I watched the celebrations from Johannesburg with a little bit of envy, wishing I was there. So when my family visited Cape Town last month, we made a point to visit this Grand Dame of the Constantia Winelands. I took the opportunity to photograph the estate in its full winter splendour.

Groot Constantia offers fabulous wine tastings, cellar tours, chocolate and wine pairings and they have 2 amazing restaurants. I highly recommend picking up a picnic from Simon’s Deli in the summer months. One of my favourite things to do at Groot Constantia is to take a walk amongst the vineyards after a long and delicious lunch at Jonkershuis.

The views of the Constantia Valley are just breathtaking and you can sometimes forget that you are just 15 minutes away from the Cape Town CBD.
