On Friday I attended the 3rd Joziburg Lane Festival at the colourful One Eloff building in the CBD. The Festival ran the entire weekend and is going to be a permanent fixture come September.
I arrived at lunch time when most of the vendors where setting up, but I used that time to explore the building.
The One Eloff building is a mixture of residential apartments, boutique office spaces for small and medium enterprises, artist’s studios and service industries such as doctors rooms and dentists, high-street convenience shops along Eloff Street such as hair dressers, cell phone outlets and convenience foods, a massive ‘Bangkok’-style shopping centre and more!
One Eloff – The Building
I was given the opportunity to explore the building and found 2 beautiful open areas within the residential part, which had wonderful sculptures on display and to buy. I thought it was a great way to use the space and to exhibit the pieces.
The Sculptures
After exploring this amazing building, which I have seen from the M2 highway so many times, I made my way back down to the food hall. The food hall boasts the Joziburg Deli, known for its wide range of South African produce – from cheeses to relishes, preserves, oils, olives, breads, cured meats and more. A series of other confectionery and deli traders, coupled with a bespoke selection of art, craft and design stalls, complete an exciting foodie and shopping experience. Make you way to the Joziburg Bar, which serves a curated selection of craft beers and artisanal drinks into the foodhall and lane, while a massive events hall will also be available for conferences, parties, launches and more.
