The History

Groot Constantia celebrated its 331st birthday this year and is officially the oldest wine producing estate in South Africa. Visit the Manor House Museum and Orientation Centre for in depth look at the history of this wine farm.

The Wine

Groot Constantia wines have been winning awards for decades and it is easy to see why. Enjoy wine tasting, a chocolate and wine pairing and/or a cellar tour.

The Food

Groot Constantia boasts two celebrated restaurants on the estate: Simon’s Restaurant and Jonkershuis.

Simon’s restaurant celebrates the riches of the Cape Winelands by transforming the freshest ingredients into memorable meals.

Jonkershuis is conscious of the provenance, sustainability and the ethical content of all the food they prepare, as well as reflecting the rich Cape Malay heritage of our “home”.

The Vineyards

The vineyards at Groot Constantia are the first things you see when you drive into the estate. Rows upon rows of grapes ready to be plucked in the summer, and although the vines are bare during the winter, they are still beautiful to walk between.

The Scenery

You are welcome to explore the vast estate on foot with countless footpaths. Take a walk up passed the top Wine Tasting Hall and you will find the Historical Baths. Or enjoy spectacular views of False Bay and the mountains from a table outside Jonkershuis.
